ESP32-C6 SuperMini

Chip ESP32-C6FH4
Dimmers, servos & motors 6 PWM channels (a motor takes 2)
LED strips (WS2812) up to 2
Battery no built-in sense; power it from USB or a 5 V supply, or add a two-resistor divider to read a battery (Battery props)
Firmware esp32-c6-supermini, install it from your browser

“ESP32-C6 SuperMini” is a board format, not one product, and sellers’ versions differ. Check these on the board in hand:

  • Header order differs between sellers. Go by the GPIO numbers printed on the board.
  • Most have a WS2812 pixel on GPIO 8 and a blue status LED on GPIO 15. One seller’s version is reported to put the pixel elsewhere; if GPIO 8 does nothing, that may be why.
  • Some versions have battery pads (B+ / B− or BAT) with a small charger behind them (a TP4054 set to 100 mA, so a 2000 mAh cell takes most of a day from empty; the green LED is on while charging and off when full) and others have none. There is no battery-sense pin, so the console shows the battery voltage only if you add a resistor divider to an ADC pin.
  • The RGB pixel and the power LED draw about a milliamp even when the pixel is off, which is most of this board’s deep-sleep current. People who need months on a battery remove them.

The console marks these with ★ when you assign pins. They are advice. Any pin that can do a job is allowed.

To connect… Use Why
Servo 7 14 Quiet at power-up, so nothing twitches while the board boots.
DC motor (H-bridge IN1/IN2) 18 19 A quiet pair side by side for IN1 / IN2 — a motor never lurches at boot.
Relay / on-off output 17 22 23 Quiet at power-up, so a relay never clicks on during boot.
LED strip (WS2812) 8 20 21 Any output can drive a strip; the C6 has two strip engines (RMT), so two strips at most. 3.3 V board — use a 74AHCT-type level shifter for 5 V strips.
LED dimmer (PWM) 15 16 The boot-quirk pins — a flicker at power-up doesn’t matter for a light. 15 is the blue status LED on most SuperMinis.
Sensor / button input 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 9 GPIO 0–7 are the low-power pins: the only ones that can wake the board from deep sleep on battery. All have internal pull-ups, so buttons need no resistor. 0–6 also read analog.
Pin GPIO Can be Note
0 0 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep
1 1 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep
2 2 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep
3 3 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep
4 4 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep strapping pin (SDIO timing) — sampled at power-up but harmless for anything this board does
5 5 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep strapping pin (SDIO timing) — sampled at power-up but harmless for anything this board does
6 6 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, analog, wakes from sleep
7 7 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down, wakes from sleep
8 8 ⚠️ caution output STRAPPING + the onboard RGB pixel’s data line (WS2812). LED_STRIP with 1 pixel lights it; nothing else belongs here
9 9 ⚠️ caution input, pull-up, pull-down STRAPPING + the BOOT button: low at reset = download mode. A button here is fine (don’t hold it while resetting); inputs only
15 15 ⚠️ caution output STRAPPING + the blue status LED on most boards: outputs only, and nothing that pulls it low at reset
16 16 ⚠️ caution input, output, pull-up, pull-down UART0 TX: the boot ROM prints here at power-up — fine for a light or strip, not for a relay or motor. The console uses USB, not this pin
17 17 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down UART0 RX — unused here (the console runs on USB)
14 14 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
18 18 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
19 19 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
20 20 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
21 21 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
22 22 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
23 23 ✅ good input, output, pull-up, pull-down
